Notice the Kolea or Pacific Plover exploring the lava crevice. This is one of several paintings begun "en plein air" prior to cataract surgery which was finished months later. This spot is on the Kona coat looking South towards Mauna Loa. I have a deep appreciation of the fragile and intricate lava formations which are one of the delights of living on a volcanic island.
